This tartan ribbon is called "taffeta" and is cut from wider tartan material, has a fine weave texture with heat sealed edges to avoid fraying. Most other tartan ribbon has stitched edges, but the heat-sealed edges work just as well . . . giving an overall finer, more delicate ribbon.
Uniquely to taffeta tartan ribbon, because it is cut from wider material, please note that each reel can show a slightly different part of the tartan and even within the same reel, the visible check can change.
