Please note although the symbol says "sold out" this tartan is NOT produced in ribbon.
The Sutherland tartan is not produced in ribbon under its own name but the two most popular variants are identical to existing tartan ribbons.
The "Old Sutherland (modern)" is virtually identical to the MacKenzie (modern) tartan. "Old Sutherland (ancient)" is the same tartan but the colours are slightly lighter and more muted. Used at the small scale of ribbon, the MacKenzie is an extremely close alternative.
The "Sutherland 42nd" is the Government Tartan (the Black Watch) and the regimental tartan of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. The Sutherland family were a branch of the Campbells and the tartan is based on the Campbell tartan on which the Government tartan was based, when it was first introduced as a military tartan following the 1745 Jacobite rebellion. The Sutherland 42nd is identical to the Black Watch.
